Jill Riley of The Current shared the latest on Minnesota's music scene with host Cathy Wurzer.
Riley walked through plagiarism allegations made by Minnesota musician Lydia Liza towards streaming giant Netflix. A new Netflix holiday movie, “Love Hard,” features a parody of the holiday standard "Baby, It's Cold Outside" with striking similarities to the viral version Liza and fellow Minnesota musician Josiah Lemanski released in 2016.
Mitski is an artist the Current likes to play a lot, and Riley is excited about a new song out she has out called “The Only Heartbreaker.” Mitski co-wrote it with Dan Wilson, who is a Twin Cities-based artist best known for his work with Semisonic. Wilson has been writing songs for the stars for a few years now, including The Chicks and Adele.
