This week, we’re looking back on 2021 at Minnesota Now. Thursday, we turned our attention to news from the world of higher education. Host Cathy Wurzer talked with student journalists about the top stories on college campuses around Minnesota this year.

Maia Irvin is the faculty and staff reporter for the Minnesota Daily at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She brought Wurzer the latest on the blowback against a salary increase for University President Joan Gabel.

Chase Scherr is associate editor for The Advocate at Minnesota State University-Moorhead. He told Wurzer about the reaction to a vaping ban in the city of Moorhead.

Isabelle Hopewell is a reporter for The Bark at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She told Wurzer about the retirement of Chancellor Lendley “Lynn” Black and shared a story she covered about the Duluth Police Department’s efforts to respond more effectively to sexual assault cases.
