From hip-hop to post-punk, Rochester's music scene is thriving

Musicians in Rochester are releasing everything from country to classical and hip-hop to post-punk.

John Sievers follows the Rochester music scene as a musician himself — he plays trombone with Loud Mouth Brass — and as a freelance writer for both the Rochester Post-Bulletin and Rochester Magazine. He also teaches English at Rochester Community and Technical College.

He joined host Cathy Wurzer to talk about what’s driving the music boom in Rochester.
