The federal trial of three former Minneapolis police officers who were present during the murder of George Floyd started Monday. J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao were at the scene of the crime alongside former officer Derek Chauvin, who has already been convicted of murder.

Kueng, Lane and Thao have been charged with failing to intervene with Chauvin’s use of force and failing to provide medical aid to George Floyd.

As the arguments of the prosecution and defense took shape, MPR reporter Jon Collins called host Cathy Wurzer from the courthouse with an update on the trial.
