A new book traces how racism has shaped Minnesota. Author Chad Montrie is a professor of history at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.  His forthcoming book is "Whiteness in Plain View: A History of Racial Exclusion in Minnesota.” MPR News editor Brandt Williams recently sat down with Montrie and began by asking what the author means by the word 'whiteness.'
