INTERVIEWER: We love a good laugh here on Minnesota Now. And after last year, we made a resolution on the show to laugh more. How about a special treat today? We've got a little comedy bit from Twin Cities-based actress and comedian Brittany Parker.

Brittany is the driving force behind the Twin Cities comedy sketch troupe Locally Grown Comedy. Here are her musings on being an aging millennial.

BRITTANY PARKER: So I'm a millennial woman and as someone who's in her early to mid to late 30s-- shut up, it's not important-- [CHUCKLES] I find myself sneaking a little bit closer to too old to understand this new generation. And they use words like basic and cheugy and cap. So it's really not my fault.

I mean, I have no idea what a basic cheugy cap is. But then again, my generation is the generation that calls their dogs fur babies. So guess we're at a stalemate. I am, though, trying to lean into, trying to figure out all this Gen Z stuff and how we can slowly update the world around us to connect to this new age bracket.

For example, more than half of all mall department stores are now closed. Retail stores used to employ 1.3 million people. And now they employ less than 700,000. So I think we need to update, get the cool kids back into actual retail stores, which means we need to change the stores to connect to Gen Z kids.

For example, if you need a new cell phone provider, go to "Teen-Mobile" or "AT&Slay." [CHUCKLES] You need new yard materials? Go check out "On Fleek Farm." Or have electronic needs? Go right on down to your closest "BestBae."

Get your clothes from "Dabercromie and Fitch." Get some overpriced sunglasses from "Wokely." Go eat two for one appetizers at "Applebae's." I mean, my favorite one, though, is the new drugstore. Yeah, all new drugstores are going to be called "CV-Yaaaas." [CHUCKLES]

I don't know. I just have plenty of these ideas. And if you need me, I'll be sitting under the nearest "live, laugh, love" sign.
