Timberwolves and Minnesota Frost both advance in respective playoff series

The Timberwolves have advanced to the NBA Western Conference championship series for a second straight year. The Wolves beat the Golden State Warriors Wednesday 121-110, winning the best-of-seven series 4-1. Julius Randle scored 29 points. The Wolves will play the winner of the Oklahoma City-Denver series for a chance to go to the NBA finals.

The Minnesota Frost topped the Toronto Scepters Wednesday 4-3 in overtime to win a PWHL semifinal playoff series 3-1 and advance to the finals. Taylor Heise scored the game-winning goal. Kendall Coyne Schofield scored twice in regulation. The defending Walter Cup champion team will return to the championship series. They will play the winner of the Montreal-Ottawa series.

The Department of Homeland Security has announced it will terminate temporary protected status for thousands of Afghans in the U.S. The status allows people fleeing violence, political unrest and instability temporary protection from deportation and provides them immediate work permits.
