Minnesota lawmakers have passed a new budget and adjourned a one-day special session. The House beat the Senate to the finish line, adjourning about at 10:40 p.m. Monday after about 12 hours of work. Senators clocked out about 1:55 a.m. Tuesday.
Some layoffs at the Minnesota Department of Health are canceled. The state announced the layoffs and reductions in public health services in late March due to cuts in federal funding. But ongoing legal challenges in federal court have allowed for continued access to pandemic-era funds for state and local health organizations throughout the country.
Winners of Minnesota's first cannabis lottery were mistakenly told Monday they did not secure a license. The state's Office of Cannabis Management says it corrected the issue within an hour.
The Minnesota Frost lost two more players in the PWHL expansion draft. The new Vancouver team selected unprotected forwards Brooke McQuigge and Denisa Krizova in Monday’s draft. The defending champion Frost also lost defenders Claire Thompson and Sophie Jacques, both who signed with Vancouver last week.
