Arrest made in connection to the death of 16-year-old Manny Collins

Officials have made an arrest in connection to the death of 16-year-old Manny Collins. The Anoka County jail roster says a suspect is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder. The Anoka County Sheriff’s office found Manny’s body in a landfill in Elk River last week. The boy was last seen alive in early May.

There’s a funeral Tuesday for a Minnesota State trooper who drowned in an off-duty accident last week.

Authorities in North Dakota evacuated some residents near a Cargill plant along the Red River, just across the border from Minnesota, following a hydrochloric acid leak Monday. The company says no one was injured, and there’s no ongoing threat to public health.

A state fraud prevention and agency oversight committee is meeting Tuesday to delve into Minnesota’s Medicaid program. Traffic on two major central Minnesota highways will be detoured for close to two months as a multiyear construction project continues in Wadena. A stretch of Highway 10 on the west side of Wadena and part of Highway 71 on the north side of the city will be closed to through traffic until late August. It’s all part of a project to expand Highway 10 to four lanes through the city, the final link between four-lane sections to the east and west.
