State Sen. Nicole Mitchell is resigning her seat after she was convicted last week on felony burglary charges. The Woodbury Democrat says she will resign from the Legislature by 5 p.m., Aug. 4. Her attorney says she wants two weeks to finish her legislative work and help staff find new employment.
A longtime Republican state Senator has died. Bruce Anderson, who represented Buffalo — first in the House and, up until his death, the Senate — has died at the age of 75. Anderson was a Navy veteran and later a member of the Minnesota Air National Guard and U.S. Air Force Reserves. He served in the legislature for 30 years.
