Another round of strong storms drenched parts of Minnesota Monday. Stevens County experienced flash flooding with parts of the county getting 3 to 6 inches of rain from weekend rain. There are reports of downed trees from Mankato toward the Twin Cities.
The driver who killed two people and injured 12 while driving drunk onto the patio at Park Tavern last September has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. The Hennepin County District court heard from family members, friends of the victims and those that were injured.
Minnesota officials will reassess security measures at the state Capitol after a man was in the building after hours over the weekend. Gov. Tim Walz says conversations about camera placement and public access to the Capitol building will be part of that discussion.
Gov. Walz says he’s cutting off funding for dozens recipients of housing stabilization funds due to suspected misuse. The governor says scheduled payments to about 50 providers would be stopped.
