The Hennepin County Board agreed to pay a record $1.6 million to settle discrimination claims by a former top prosecutor ahead of a scheduled trial. Amy Sweasy first sued then-County Attorney Mike Freeman in 2022, alleging he made sexist remarks and demoted her when she raised concerns about the process for charging the three officers who were with Derek Chauvin when he killed George Floyd.
Local Meteorologist Wren Clair has filed a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit against her former employer, Hubbard family-owned KSTP-TV in St. Paul. Clair alleges she was terminated after she repeatedly reported the conduct. KSTP denied the claims in a legal response filed Wednesday. Clair is now a meteorologist at KARE-11.

St. Paul-based Ecolab says it’s acquiring part of a water technology company in a deal estimated at $1.8 billion dollars. Ecolab says it has an agreement to buy the electronics division of Montreal-based Ovivo. The company is focused on water treatment technology for semiconductor manufacturing. Ecolab says acquiring Ovivo will allow it to expand its water management business in that high-growth field.
