Meet Gracie Stockton
Gracie Stockton is the lead producer for Morning Edition on MPR News, working closely with host Cathy Wurzer to ensure the audience in Minnesota and beyond is in the know in the early morning hours. Occasionally, you may hear her filling in on air during newscasts and weekends.
Previously, Gracie was a TV news producer at WCCO/CBS News Minnesota mornings and at KSTP-TV mornings and midday, where she also began her postgraduate career as an assignment editor/digital producer. In 2020, Gracie interned with the APM Reports team investigating voting concerns during the 2020 election. In 2021, she returned as a freelancer, digging into changes in law enforcement de-escalation training, filing nationwide FOIA requests and interviewing Peace Officer Standards and Training Board officials. She also spent time as an intern with the Minnesota Reformer.
A Chicagoland native, Gracie moved to Minnesota for college and put down roots. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and theatre arts and a minor in Russian, and she completed her honors thesis at the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Gracie and her dog Riley live in St. Paul. Outside of work, she loves to read, paint, draw, cook and collect houseplants. Gracie also enjoys a good trip to the dog park with two- and four-legged friends, followed by a local cider or gluten free beer.
