Three men charged in connection with spate of armed gas station robberies Sunday

Negotiators with a University of Minnesota’s service workers union say they have been given a final offer, but that it falls short of their goals.

Republican State Rep. Kristin Robbins is running for governor. Robbins has represented a district in the western suburbs since 2018. And she chairs the House Fraud Prevention and State Government Oversight Committee.

Robbins joins a crowded GOP field running for governor. Scott Jensen, Kendall Qualls, Phillip Parrish and Brad Kohler also are also vying for the party's endorsement. Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat in his second term, will announce next month whether he will run for a third term.

A security committee for the state Capitol in St. Paul met for the first time since the fatal shootings of Melissa and Mark Hortman, and the shootings that injsured Sen. John and Yvette Hoffman, at their homes in June. The meeting also comes on the heels of a man being arrested for gaining entry to the Capitol. The committee, which includes lawmakers, judges and security officials, discussed adding metal detectors, banning firearms and taking other safety measures.

Ramsey County prosecutors have charged three young men in connection with a spate of armed gas station robberies early Sunday.
