Another worker has been killed in a Twin Cities road construction area

The U.S. Department of Justice is suing Minnesota’s top election official as it tries to unlock statewide voter registration data.

Two brothers from Texas are facing federal kidnapping charges for allegedly holding a Washington County family at gunpoint for nine hours while robbing them of $8 million in cryptocurrency.

A second worker has been killed in as many days in a Twin Cities road construction area. The state patrol says a man died after he was hit by a dump truck Thursday in a closed work zone along Highway 610 near Maple Grove Parkway.

On Wednesday morning, a truck with a boom attachment struck and killed 29-year-old Pierre Raymon Mack of St. Paul in an Interstate 35W work zone near Burnsville Parkway. Mack was also on foot. And like the incident Thursday, no other vehicles were involved.

MnDOT warns drivers to slow down in work zones and practice good, undistracted driving habits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.

Bridge repair work will lead to a couple of freeway closures this weekend in downtown St. Paul.

One closure will affect a short stretch of westbound Interstate 94 between I-35E and John Ireland Boulevard. Traffic heading toward Minneapolis will be detoured to Highway 36.

The other closure is for southbound I-35E between University Avenue and 10th Street in downtown St. Paul. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 52 and I-494.

Those closures start at 10 p.m. Friday and run through early Monday.
