Faith leaders from across Minnesota Wednesday pressed Gov. Tim Walz over their demand for a special session on gun legislation.
Walz says the state is planning for the Trump administration to send the National Guard to Minnesota, as it has to Los Angeles, Chicago and Portland. During an interview — along with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker at the Star Tribune's North Star Summit. Walz said his administration has been preparing for the possibility, preparing to fight it in the courts and challenge the legality of such a move.
The U.S. Senate has confirmed Minneapolis attorney Daniel Rosen, President Donald Trump's nominee to serve as the next U.S. attorney for Minnesota. Rosen was one of three candidates recommended for the position by Minnesota’s Republican congressional delegation. He is a Navy veteran and graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School.
Muslim leaders in Minneapolis are calling for an investigation into a fire at a mosque last week following a break-in Tuesday morning at the same building.

Authorities in northeastern Minnesota have apprehended an inmate who walked away from a work farm near Duluth two weeks ago. The Saint Louis County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Michael Todd Hart was taken into custody Tuesday at a home in Cohasset — about 65 miles from the work farm. Authorities said Hart was hiding under a basement stairwell in the home and he allegedly assaulted deputies trying to arrest him. A 29-year-old woman was also taken into custody for allegedly aiding Hart.
A man died after a fishing boat capsized Tuesday morning along the Mississippi River near Monticello. It happened near the Xcel Energy nuclear power plant. KARE 11 reports three men who were in the boat went into the water. Two made it to shore.
The crown prince of Norway is in Minnesota this week on a visit marking 200 years since the first organized Norwegian emigration to North America. Prince Haakon visited Norway House in Minneapolis Tuesday. There are more than 800,000 Minnesotans with Norwegian ancestry. Wednesday Prince Haakon will be in Northfield visiting St. Olaf College.
