Thousands of demonstrators gathered near U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday to protest the policies of President Donald Trump. The “No Kings” rally was one of about 2,600 nationwide. “No Kings” rallies were also held in Duluth, Rochester, St. Louis Park and other cities around the state.
The annual count of sandhill cranes at the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge is on hold due to the federal government shutdown.
Many Minnesotans are now shopping for health care insurance for next year. Experts say premiums on the individual marketplace are about 22 percent higher on average than last year. And, if the federal tax credits expire — an issue at the center of the government shutdown — premiums may be even higher.
About 190,000 Minnesotans get their health insurance through the marketplace. Enrollment begins Nov. 1.
