MSP sees a reduction in flights due to the government shutdown

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport has begun seeing a reduced number of flights due to the federal government shutdown. MSP is among the 40 airports ordered to cut air traffic by 10 percent. Thrifty Traveler reporter and host Gunnar Olson says American, Delta and United are offering travel waivers that allow passengers to change existing flights. And, if you have to book a flight, Olson recommends choosing the first flight of the day.

One of the states longest serving legislators is retiring next year, rather than seeking a new term. State Senator Sandy Pappas has served in the Legislature since 1985, first in the House and then for much longer in the Senate. Pappas, a Democrat, says she's most proud of passing bills around women's economic stability, shoring up pension access and supporting one known as the Minnesota DREAM Act.
