There have been multiple reports and one confirmed instance where ICE detainees were flown from Minnesota to Texas and then released from detention centers there without their belongings, left to find their way back to Minnesota on their own. 

MPR News host Clay Masters spoke with Minnesota Democratic Sen. Tina Smith, who was recently called to assist with one of these cases.

“In one circumstance my office worked directly with the agents at TSA to help return a Minnesotan back to the state,” Smith said. “They did not have their identification. It’s complicated to travel when you don’t have your ID.”
