Health officials in the Trump administration froze $259 million dollars in payments bound for the state. It’s an action that targets Minnesota alone but that Vice President JD Vance said could be replicated in other states.
Gov. Tim Walz says the freeze has nothing to do with fraud, and that the administration is weaponizing the federal government to punish Democratic-led states like Minnesota.
Federal officials say fewer than 1,000 immigration agents are left in Minnesota — less than a quarter of the number that were here at the peak of the federal immigration surge.
