A federal lawsuit alleges that the medical giant Mayo Clinic has been 

cutting corners as it incorporates artificial intelligence

 into its research and patient care. The lawsuit filed this week by a former Mayo Clinic AI compliance official also alleges that she was fired after reporting her concerns. The lawsuit also alleges that one team at Mayo disguised a sixty-seven percent error rate with Mayo's AI tool. 

Deere & Company, a farm equipment manufacturer, reached a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission and five states, including Minnesota. The lawsuit alleged that Deere employed unlawful practices to restrict farmers and third-party repair shops from repairing its machinery, thereby forcing farmers to use its authorized dealers instead. The settlement means Deere has to give farmers and independent repair shops the same tools and resources its authorized dealers use for the next 10 years. 

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has cited a Brainerd man for reportedly 

shooting at a black bear without justification

. A DNR Conservation Officer found no evidence that the bear damaged property or was behaving aggressively. The bear wasn’t found. Authorities don’t know whether it was injured.
