9 people injured, 2 with life-threatening conditions, after shooting at Minneapolis Nightclub

Nine people were hospitalized — two with life-threatening injuries — after an early Sunday morning shooting outside a nightclub in Minneapolis’ Uptown neighborhood. Minneapolis police say gunfire erupted just after midnight outside the Reign Event Center.

Grand Marais businesses are taking a financial hit as tourists stay away amid fires in the nearby Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Grand Marais is situated on the banks of Lake Superior and at the gateway to the Gunflint Trail, where people go to canoe and hike. One small business owner says that the fires in the Arrowhead are very far away, but tourists seem to think there's an imminent danger. Smoke and poor air quality are contributing to the sharp decline in Grand Marais tourism, too.

Jury selection begins in Rochester Monday in the trial of a woman accused of hurling racial slur at a young Black child on a Rochester playground. Shiloh Hendrix will be tried on two charges of disorderly conduct. Video of the incident went viral and Hendrix said she was doxxed and threatened afterwards. An online fundraiser raised more than $800,000 for her to relocate. Her attorney argues that her actions are protected under the First Amendment.

First Avenue, the Minneapolis live music institution, will be the stage for some political stars Monday evening. Sens. Bernie Sanders and Tina Smith, along with U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison will campaign for U.S. Senate hopeful Peggy Flanagan. Sanders, one of the key leaders in the Democratic progressive left, is returning to the state to hold his second rally for Lt. Gov. Flanagan after a May event in Rochester.
