Classes resume at Eden Prairie High School, days after shooting outside homecoming football game

Two men say they fell victim to a new ICE tactic to keep immigrants in detention in Minnesota. Two young men being held in the Freeborn County Jail for immigration violations say after judges ordered their release, ICE agents were waiting at the courthouse doors to re-arrest them.

The family of Renee Good has filed two civil lawsuits seeking damages related to her death during Operation Metro Surge in January. The family's attorney said he hopes the civil lawsuits will lead to criminal charges against the ICE agent who shot and killed Good, Jonathan Ross.

The former private prison in Appleton, Minn., being revamped to house a privately-run ICE detention facility has brought protesters out to a park each week. DFL U.S. Senate nominee Peggy Flanagan visited those protesters Sunday. The lieutenant governor says the money the federal government paid CoreCivic to buy and rehab the prison could have been used for other job creation.

Classes resume Monday morning at Eden Prairie High School, days after a shooting outside their homecoming football game on Friday. School officials say they will have additional resources on site available for students and staff. The shooting left two injured, forced an evacuation of the stadium and school grounds and prompted the cancellation of the school's homecoming dance. Police have not announced any arrests and have not released any information about suspects.

A Minnesota man was the 81st person to be indicted in the sprawling Feeding our Future fraud scheme. Shaakir Mohamud Ibrahim, 54, is accused of making personal purchases using money from nonprofits meant to serve meals to children. The indictment lists five fraudulent transactions, including a $50,000 check Ibrahim allegedly wrote to himself in 2021.

The top Republican in the U.S. Senate is headed to Minnesota to campaign for Republican Senate nominee Michele Tafoya. This will be Tafoya’s highest-profile campaign visitor in her bid to flip a Democratic-held seat. She and Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota will visit a family farm in southern Minnesota on Monday.
