Timberwolves open their first post-Garnett season

For the first time in 13 years, the Minnesota Timberwolves will be without Kevin Garnett, who was traded during the off season. Team officials hope local sports fans will take a liking to the young bunch of Wolves who will carry on without K.G.

Former Timberwolves player Eddie Griffin dead in SUV-train crash

Investigators used dental records to identify Griffin, 25, who began his tumultuous pro career with the Houston Rockets in 2001. He was waived by the Timberwolves in March.
