National Guard surgeon practices combat medicine in Iraq

Col. Basil Leblanc is a Brigade Surgeon for the First Brigade Combat Team within the 34th Infantry Division of the Minnesota National Guard.

Col. Leblanc recently returned from a three-month mission in Iraq, where he was responsible for medical operations at several military bases serving more than 5,000 troops.

Col. Leblanc spoke with Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer about changes in combat medicine.
