Ford plant's plans to eliminate a shift leave some workers unsure

The Ford Ranger was once a popular seller for the company. But sales have dropped dramatically, so Ford is eliminating the second shift at the St. Paul assembly plant this fall, and closing it entirely by 2008.

Workers at the Ford assembly plant in St. Paul are waiting to hear more about the company's plans to eliminate the second shift at the plant. The company has yet to announce whether employees will be offered any buyouts or other severance packages.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer talked with a Ford employee, Ed Dean, Jr., who is the youngest of three generations of Deans to work at the plant, about what's next for the workers.
