Today is the first day of school for most of Minnesota's students and teachers, and the beginning of St. Paul public schools' 150th year. The district welcomes a new superintendent, Meria Carstarphen, who was hired last spring from Washington, D.C.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Carstarphen before she began her first day of school.
