The new Minnesota Public Radio-Pioneer Press poll is the third independent poll in a week to show that the governor's race in Minnesota is essentially a dead heat between DFLer Mike Hatch and incumbent Republican Tim Pawlenty.

Half of those polled did not recognize Independence candidate Peter Hutchinson by name.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with the candidates' campaign managers to find out how the numbers may affect their strategies in the weeks that remain before the election.

They are Michael Krueger with the Pawlenty campaign, John Youngdahl with the Hatch campaign and Steve Struthers, who manages the Hutchinson campaign.
