The blog, The Wind Beneath the Right Wing, has started an effort to recruit former Minnesota Senate Minority Leader Dick Day to run against DFL Congressman-elect Tim Walz in 2008. The GOP is looking for a candidate in the 1st District now that Walz defeated Gil Gutknecht.
Day was re-elected to his 6th term to the Minnesota Senate. He was Senate Minority Leader up until this month. He was replaced after the GOP lost seats in the Minnesota Senate. He's known as a great quote among the political press corp but has also been criticized for being a loose cannon. No word on whether he's thinking about running.
