Smells like pavement.

The Minnesota House is taking up the transportation bill right now. There were plenty of construction lobbyists, city and county officials and others who were lobbying legislators as they went into the House chamber. Everyone is watching whether the House can get enough votes (90) to override a gubernatorial veto. The Senate will take the bill up after the House vote.

Update:

The House passed the bill 90 to 43.

The Republicans who voted for the bill are: Dennis Ozment, Bud Heidgerken, Dean Urdahl, Neil Peterson, Ron Erhardt, Kathy Tingelstad and Jim Abeler.

The DFLers who voted against the bill are: Tom Rukavina and Mary Ellen Otremba.

At least two Republicans say they won't vote to override a veto. A source says the DFLers may be open to voting for the bill.
