Over time, nature will find a way to put things in balance. The precipitation that was absent in June and July, drenching in August, September and into October, shut off at an opportunistic time for the fall harvest.
Just two weeks ago there was a noisy clamor about the standing water in the fields, and the difficulty farmers were having in moving harvest machinery through the quagmire. With good fortune there has been an extended dry spell in central and southern Minnesota the past 10 days.
Including this sun-drenched Monday, rainfall has totaled only 0.01 inches since Oct. 19 in Minneapolis. Drying winds and a good amount of sunshine replaced the dreary cloud cover the first two weeks of October, and accelerated the drying process.
Enjoy these two bonus days of Indian summer before a cool down arrives to kick off November.
