The Twin Cities Gay Hockey Association is a group designed to provide a safe space for gay and gay-friendly people to play competitive hockey.

This season, they've got a new team name and a new logo. It's also their first season as an independent athletic group that rents its own ice and schedules its own games.

One of the players on the team, Mark Lechevalier, says he tried to start a gay hockey league years ago, but it didn't take off. Now, he says, interest in gay athletics is picking up, and the number of players on the Twin Cities Gay Hockey Association roster is growing, too.
