The search warrant St. Paul police used to gain access to a local TV reporter's cell phone records was unsealed today.
Police searched through two months worth of phone calls made by Fox 9 TV reporter Tom Lyden earlier this year. They wanted to find out how Lyden got access to a police report that the department had refused to give him.
Last week, Police Chief John Harrington said he regretted searching Lyden's phone records and admitted that the police report in question was public information all along.
The case brings up questions about how reporters do their work, and how that work is protected by the constitution.
David Brauer joined "All Things Considered" host Tom Crann to discuss the case.
