George Takei jokes his tombstone will read "Here lies Hikaru Sulu (AKA George Takei.)" But he says he is grateful to the chracter, as it has opened doors for Japanese-Americans in the 40 years since he first appeared on Star Trek.

George Takei says as he travels the world, people always recognize him and smile. He's better known as Star Trek's Mr. Sulu, the helmsman on the Star Ship Enterprise.
Takei is in the Twin Cities to host a Minnesota Orchestra concert of science fiction music.
Takei told Minnesota Public Radio's Euan Kerr there are important links between science fiction and music.
