A cool front will push through eastern Minnesota today. However don't expect fireworks of strong thunderstorms. The juiced up air remains well to our south.
It will be another stormy day in the middle Mississippi Valley. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have already been posted for St. Louis and Little Rock. The Storm Prediction Center will be focusing their attention on portions of Missouri, Arkansas and Texas for the potential for tornadoes today into tonight.

Meanwhile the cool front arrives in the Twin Cities around 3pm turning the winds from southwest to west and then northwest. A few showers could deposit rainfall amounts of up to a quarter inch. Drenching rains are not likely.

I looked back to 2000 when the mercury failed to reach 80 degrees in April in Minneapolis, as the case this year. Eight years ago, Minneapolis/St. Paul topped out at 89 on both May 4th and 5th. Overall, it was not a hot summer. We reached 90 degrees or warmer only six times. The hottest reading was 94 on June 8, 2000.
Weather patterns change and we are about due. Remember last year at this time when we were in the early stages of dryness with timber fires igniting in the BWCA?
So let's do our best to be content. At least we are not dodging twisters or forced out of our homes by floods, fires or earthquakes.
