MinnPost says former Sen. Dean Barkley wants to challenge former Gov. Jesse Ventura to a high stakes game of golf on Wednesday. He said the loser of the match has to run for the U.S. Senate this year. Both Ventura and Barkley have expressed interest in a run for the seat.
Barkley says he can beat Ventura. I can't find Barkley's handicap but Ventura has a handicap of 11.7
MPR's Tim Pugmire said Barkley is slated to appear before the I-P endorsing convention on June 21. Independence Party Chair Craig Swaggart said Stephen Williams, Kurt Anderson and William McGaughey are also vying for the endorsement. The I-P candidate will likely face GOP Sen. Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken.
