Warm, humid and rainy for first week of Olympics

It appears that the first week of competition for the Beijing Olympics will see athletes contend with fog, rain, and warm/humid conditions. Forecasted highs range through the 80s F, with overnight lows in the 70s F and daily chances for showers and thunderstorms. I find it rather interesting that the Chinese Meteorological Service calls for fog to form overnight and early morning over the weekend rather than haze or smog. But perhaps the shower activity will clear the air and bring better air quality for the competitions later in the week. Among the early competitions during the first few days, cycling is one of the sports most likely to be affected by the weather. Most of the other outdoor endurance type of events begin later next week.
