Low temperatures this morning in NE Minnesota counties are in the 30s F. A samping includes:
Hibbing 33 F Waskish 37 F Cotton 36 F McGregor 36 F Eveleth 37 F
Ely 39 F Aitkin 39 F Silver Bay 39 F
Previous studies of fall color change in Minnesota by former State Climatologist Earl Kuehnast have shown that such low temperatures (generally 30s F or lower) accelerate the pace of change in our northern forests. Thus with the cool temperature trend expected this week, we might expect that color change will pick up the pace in NE counties.
Perhaps you should plan that trip up north a little early this year.
