My oh my! Southern Minnesota was blessed with a beautiful Sunday when a cool front stalled over northwest Minnesota. Temperatures were in the 60s from Alexandria south. As the front gradually pushed south, winds relaxed and the afternoon was a delight.
The cool front induced some showers to form,but rainfall totals were less than a tenth of an inch.
River stages are falling on the Red River from Fargo to Grand Forks. The news I heard last week from a senior hydrologist at the North Central River Forecast Center causes concern about going into the cold season with very wet conditions in the vicinity of the Red River.
A developing weather system to our west will increase the chances for wet weather midweek. Currently, the trend is for the heaviest rainfall to accumulate to the south of the Twin Cities.
