When the local cooperative observer checks in with a temperature of 28 degrees or less, the National Weather Service considers the growing season to have come to an end in that region. Last night, Mother Nature cashed in across most of the state.
The Nation's cold spot(s) according to this morning's data collection from NOAA had a three way tie, with 18 degrees at Hibbing, Pine River and Big Fork. In my back yard, I recorded a low of 24 degrees. Princeton checked in with 21 degrees, with 25 at Lake Elmo. To our east, Eau Claire was a nippy 23 degrees.
This was the coldest morning in the Twin Cities since 28 degrees on April 29th.
We had a good run. Now we could use a little more moisture; coming as rain that is! Good chance for wet weather on Wednesday.
