Snow will not last……at least for now

First significant snow of the season was observed Friday morning across many southern and central counties. Though amounts ranged up to 5 inches the warm soils will not allow the snow to remain long. Update reports can be found at the NWS-Chanhassen Office

Soil freeze up is likely still weeks away despite a forecast that calls for below normal temperatures to dominate at least through the 21st of the month. By that time, about a week ahead of Thanksgiving, the ground may be cool enough to allow accumulating snow across most of the landscape.
