Minnesota saw a jump in hiring demand in May, according to a leading business research organization.

The Conference Board's "help wanted online data series" showed a 16 percent increase in new online job postings in Minnesota from April to May. New online job ads for the state total nearly 37,000.

The increase in Minnesota reflected broad gains nationwide, with 43 states seeing more online job ads. Nationally the number of ads, both new and existing, jumped by 250,000.

The Conference Board says the "May bounce in labor demand is a very welcome sign."
