Vigil in Minneapolis tonight for murdered abortion doctor

A candlelight vigil for Dr. George Tiller, a Kansas abortion doctor who was shot to death on Sunday, will be held at 9 p.m. in Loring Park in Minneapolis.
The Minnesota Choice Coalition is organizing the event, which will not include a speaking program, bullhorns, chanting or political rhetoric, according to the group's website.
"Rather than letting this unspeakable act divide us, let's work together with civility and respect," according to a release on the coalition's website. "Let us offer our encouragement and support to those that continue to make women's health care a priority."
The fatal shooting has prompted condemnation from organizations that both support and oppose legalized abortions.

At least three doctors who perform abortions have been killed since 1993, and many organizations that oppose abortion said this type of violence actually hurts their cause.
Scott Roeder, 51, remained jailed Tuesday on suspicion of murder, accused of shooting Tiller to death as the doctor served as an usher at his Lutheran church in Wichita. Meanwhile, the clinic where Tiller worked is closed for a week of mourning.
