Two of the state's biggest companies will be recognized by Gov. Tim Pawlenty today for their outreach to military services members and their families.
Pawlenty will name Marvin Windows and Target as the first "Yellow Ribbon Corporations" in the state during the Governor's Employer Summit in St. Paul.
The companies were selected because of their work helping veterans with programs like Target's internal Military Service Network and Marvin Windows' on-site degree programs.
The yellow ribbon designation is part of the Minnesota National Guard's "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon" program that provides services, training and resources to military members and their families throughout the deployment cycle.
It offers individual and group reintegration training programs, pre-deployment training, and family readiness assistance, among other services. The training is open to all branches of the military.
Nearly 75 Minnesota business leaders are expected to attend the governor's summit, which will focus on how the state's businesses can support the military community.
