Minnesota's Department of Human Services is launching a statewide series of meetings in Minnetonka Wednesday to explain major changes to care benefits available from the state.
Deputy DHS Commissioner Loren Colman said some of the changes affect the personal care attendant program. The program provides in home care for the disabled, but the legislative auditor sharply criticized the program this spring for its lack of accountability.
Colman said his staff will explain at the meetings who will be able to best be served in this program, how many hours they will be allowed to use a personal care attendant and how many hours a personal care attendant will be compensated for. There are a variety of program integrity improvements and simplification to the program.
The meetings wrap up July 28 in Marshall.
