Former Republican U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be in Minneapolis this afternoon hosting a health care reform forum with a group of Minnesota leaders.
The event, titled "Creating a 21st Century Intelligent Health System in Minnesota," will discuss health opportunities and strategies for the state, including panel topics such as effective diabetes care, the role of wellness and consumerism in health reform, and the future of health care in Minnesota.
Other speakers and panelists include Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Minnesota Human Services Commissioner Cal Ludeman, and former Attorney General Skip Humphrey.
The event is sponsored by the Center for Health Transformation, which brings together leaders from the public and private sectors. Gingrich founded the organization in 2003 after retiring from Congress.
The event will take place at 11 a.m. at the University of Minnesota's McNamara Alumni Center.
Today's forum workshop is by invitation only but will be streamed on the Center for Health Transformation's website after the event.
