A 21-year-old man from Elk River died Monday from injuries resulting from a head-on collision in Sherburne County, officials said.
The accident happened shortly after 10 a.m. near Highway 10 near 172nd St. Northwest, officials said.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was driving his Oldsmobile Achieva east on Highway 10 when he crossed the median and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the westbound lanes, the Minnesota State Patrol said. It's unclear what caused him to lose control of the car.
The driver of the truck, Patricia Hoheisel, 27, was in critical condition, and her 7-year-old daughter suffered non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
The Big Lake Police Department and the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident.
