Drivers in the Metro area will likely face detours and increased congestion tonight as crews work on a major road project.
Department of Transportation officials will close the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 35W, at the western junction of Highway 62.
The lanes will close at 10 p.m. tonight and will reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday, officials said.
The closures are necessary as crews complete bridge painting at the western junction of the two highways.
The project is part of the I-35W/Highway 62 Crosstown reconstruction project. Officials recommend drivers follow the posted detour signs during the closures.
Highway 62 will remain open during the closures, and access to local streets along I-35W north and south of Highway 62 will also remain open during the closures.
