Here is an image from the ETA computer model of the winds and temperatures at about five thousand feet above the surface for Saturday morning. The wind barbs are in knots. That's about a 25 to 30 mph north wind overhead driving chilly air across Minnesota. Some of the coldest air in the Nation headed our way.
Note the counterclockwise circulation around the low pressure centered over Lake Superior. Temperatures are in degrees celcius. The light blue shading translates to near zero degrees celcius about a mile overhead.
Low temperatures could settle into the 30s in northern Minnesota on Sunday and Monday morning as surface winds decrease to nearly calm. These readings are about a month ahead of schedule.
