Woman in critical condition after being struck by Metro Transit bus

A woman struck by a Metro Transit bus in Minneapolis Friday morning is hospitalized in critical condition.

The woman was apparently walking on the driveway leading to the 46th Street transit station in south Minneapolis shortly before 7 a.m., when she was hit.

A 7-year veteran of the transit service was driving the bus. Metro Transit spokesman Bob Gibbons said transit police and the state patrol sent officers to investigate.

Gibbons said the bus is equipped with video cameras, but it's not clear yet how much of the incident may have been caught on tape.

This is the fourth incident involving Metro Transit buses this year. A crash in July injured eight, and two other pedestrians have been hit by buses. One of them was killed in February.
